Frequently Asked Questions — Custom Quartz Tubes & Ampoules
What types of quartz tubes and ampoules do you manufacture?
We manufacture a wide range of custom fused silica components, including straight tubes (open or closed end), sealed ampoules, multi-neck designs, side-port tubes, reaction chambers, and complex custom geometries. All parts are fabricated from 99.99% high-purity fused silica.
What size range is available for quartz tubes?
Typical capabilities include OD from 2 mm to 200 mm, length up to 2000 mm, and wall thickness from 0.5 mm to 10 mm+. Non-standard and large-diameter furnace tubes are fully supported.
What is the maximum operating temperature?
High-purity fused silica quartz supports continuous operation at 1100–1200 °C and short-term exposure up to ~1250 °C. For higher temperatures, alternative materials such as alumina may be recommended.
Do you offer closed-end tubes and sealed ampoules?
Yes. Available end configurations include flat-sealed ends, rounded bulb ends, point-sealed tips, and double-ended sealed ampoules. Designs can be optimized for chemical reactions or vacuum sealing.
Can side ports, joints, or flanges be added?
Yes. We support side holes, branch tubes, standard laboratory joints (e.g. 24/40, 14/20), and KF / CF / custom flange interfaces. All joints and ports are flame-sealed by experienced quartz technicians.
What is the purity and grade of the quartz material?
All components are made from 99.99% optical-grade fused silica. Low-OH quartz (<10 ppm) is available for UV, optical, semiconductor, and high-temperature applications.
Are the ampoules suitable for vacuum or inert-gas sealing?
Yes. Our quartz ampoules are commonly used for vacuum sealing, inert gas encapsulation (Ar, N₂), crystal growth, material synthesis, and high-temperature reaction studies.
What dimensional tolerances can be achieved?
Typical tolerances are ±0.05–0.2 mm for OD/ID and ±1–2 mm for length, depending on tube size and geometry. Tighter tolerances and precision machining are available upon request.
