Rare-Earth Oxide Crystals & Scandate Single Crystals (Lu₂O₃, Sc₂O₃, GdScO₃, YScO₃)

We grow and supply high-temperature oxide single crystals and scandate materials for high-power photonics, oxide electronics, epitaxy substrates, and advanced research. This product family includes undoped and doped options with deliverables ranging from boules and blanks to polished wafers.

Core Materials We Support

Crystal Category Common Use
Lu2O3 (Lutetia) Rare-earth sesquioxide High-power laser host, photonics research
Sc2O3 (Scandia) Rare-earth sesquioxide Optical materials, substrate research
GdScO3 Scandate Epitaxy substrate (oxide electronics, perovskite thin films)
YScO3 Scandate Epitaxy substrate, oxide electronics research
Related RE oxides / custom compositions On request Material development and specialty programs

Doping Options

We support rare-earth dopants for optical/laser applications and can tailor concentrations by target use case.

  • Typical dopants: Yb, Nd, Er, Ho, Tm, Ce, Eu, Pr (others upon request)
  • Customized concentration: defined per application (laser, spectroscopy, functional oxides)
  • Notes: final feasibility depends on composition, boule size, and defect/strain targets

Why These Oxides & Scandates

  • High melting points and strong thermal stability for demanding photonic conditions
  • Excellent candidates for high-power laser hosts (doped sesquioxides)
  • Scandates as epitaxy substrates enabling controlled lattice matching for oxide thin films

Deliverable Forms

  • Boules, cut blanks, or seed material (by program)
  • Polished plates / windows / rods
  • Polished wafers/substrates (orientation, thickness, and finish specified)
