LaBr₃:Ce (Cerium-doped Lanthanum Bromide) is a premium inorganic scintillator crystal engineered for high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy and fast radiation detection. It delivers exceptionally high light output, outstanding energy resolution, and ultra-fast decay time, making it one of the top-performing scintillators available today.

With a light yield of approximately 63,000 photons/MeV and energy resolution as good as ~2.6–3.0% at 662 keV, LaBr₃:Ce significantly outperforms conventional scintillators such as NaI(Tl) and CsI(Tl). Its fast decay time (~16 ns) enables excellent timing resolution and high count-rate performance.

Due to its hygroscopic nature, LaBr₃:Ce crystals are supplied hermetically sealed with optical windows optimized for PMT or SiPM coupling. Each crystal is grown with controlled Ce doping to ensure uniform scintillation performance, low intrinsic background, and long-term stability.

LaBr₃:Ce scintillators are widely used in nuclear physics, isotope identification, homeland security, medical imaging research, and industrial radiation monitoring, where superior spectral accuracy and fast response are critical.

Frequently Asked Questions — LaBr₃:Ce Scintillator Crystal

LaBr₃:Ce (Cerium-doped Lanthanum Bromide) is a high-performance inorganic scintillator known for its extremely high light output, excellent energy resolution, and fast decay time, widely used in gamma-ray spectroscopy.
Compared with NaI(Tl) and CsI(Tl), LaBr₃:Ce offers much better energy resolution (~2.6–3.0% @ 662 keV) and a significantly faster decay time (~16 ns), making it ideal for precision spectroscopy and high count-rate detection.
Yes. LaBr₃:Ce is highly hygroscopic and must be hermetically sealed to protect it from moisture. All usable detector-grade crystals are supplied in sealed housings.
LaBr₃:Ce scintillators are compatible with photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) and silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), depending on detector design.
Yes. Custom crystal dimensions, encapsulated detectors, and OEM configurations are available upon request for research and industrial applications.
