Custom sapphire tubes and shaped sapphire components are precision-fabricated from single crystal aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), offering exceptional mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical resistance, and optical transparency. Sapphire is one of the few materials capable of reliable operation in extreme temperature, pressure, and corrosive environments, making it ideal for advanced scientific and industrial applications.

Compared with quartz or ceramic materials, sapphire provides significantly higher hardness, superior wear resistance, higher operating temperature limits, and better pressure tolerance. Its wide optical transmission window from ultraviolet to mid-infrared further enables use in optical monitoring, spectroscopy, and high-temperature viewing applications.

We offer fully custom sapphire tubes and complex sapphire shapes, including round tubes, square tubes, capillary tubes, rods, windows, domes, flanges, and other non-standard geometries. Advanced fabrication processes such as single-crystal growth, precision machining, grinding, drilling, and optical polishing are employed to meet strict dimensional and surface-quality requirements.

Custom options include inner/outer diameter control, wall thickness, length, end-face geometry, chamfers, holes, slots, and optical-grade polishing. Sapphire components can be supplied for vacuum, high-pressure, high-temperature, and chemically aggressive environments, supporting both research-scale experiments and industrial OEM integration.

Frequently Asked Questions — Custom Sapphire Tubes & Components

What are sapphire tubes commonly used for?
Sapphire tubes are widely used in high-temperature furnaces, high-pressure reactors, vacuum systems, crystal growth equipment, and optical viewports. Their exceptional mechanical strength, thermal stability, and chemical resistance make them suitable for extreme environments where quartz or ceramics fail.
Why choose sapphire instead of quartz or ceramic tubes?
Compared with quartz or ceramic materials, sapphire offers much higher hardness, superior wear resistance, higher maximum operating temperature, and greater pressure tolerance. Sapphire is also optically transparent from UV to mid-IR, enabling in-situ optical monitoring.
What shapes and geometries can be customized?
We support fully custom geometries including round tubes, square tubes, capillary tubes, rods, windows, domes, flanges, and complex non-standard sapphire components. Inner/outer diameter, wall thickness, length, holes, slots, chamfers, and end-face geometry can all be customized.
What surface finish options are available?
Sapphire components can be supplied with ground, fine-ground, or optical-grade polished surfaces. Optical polishing can achieve surface roughness below Ra < 0.3 nm, suitable for optical transmission and high-vacuum applications.
Are sapphire tubes suitable for vacuum and high-pressure use?
Yes. Sapphire tubes and components are widely used in high-vacuum, high-pressure, and controlled-atmosphere systems. Their low outgassing, high strength, and chemical inertness make them ideal for demanding research and industrial environments.
What temperature range can sapphire components withstand?
Sapphire has an extremely high melting point and excellent thermal stability, allowing reliable operation at very high temperatures and under rapid thermal cycling, depending on component geometry and mounting conditions.
Can sapphire tubes be used for optical observation?
Yes. Sapphire offers wide optical transmission from the ultraviolet to the mid-infrared, making it ideal for optical viewports, spectroscopy, laser diagnostics, and high-temperature observation.
Are custom drawings and tight tolerances supported?
Absolutely. We support customer drawings, tight dimensional tolerances, and surface specifications. Each design can be reviewed for feasibility before fabrication to ensure reliable performance.
Are these sapphire components suitable for research and OEM integration?
Yes. Our custom sapphire tubes and components are supplied to universities, national laboratories, research institutes, and OEM equipment manufacturers, supporting both prototype development and industrial-scale integration.
