What is Etching?
Etching is a technique that involves using an acid or a corrosive substance to selectively remove material from a surface to create a design or pattern.
How Does Etching Work?
After photolithograph, a resist material is applied to the surface of the material to protect the areas that are not meant to be etched. The exposed areas are then exposed to an etchant, which chemically erodes the unprotected areas, leaving behind the desired design.
Types of Etching
There are several types of etching techniques, including chemical etching, photochemical etching, and laser etching. Chemical etching involves using acids or bases to remove material, while photochemical etching uses light-sensitive resists to create patterns. Laser etching, on the other hand, uses a high-powered laser to selectively remove material.
